Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Carrus mobile application ("Carrus", "the app", "the service"), operated by Abdulrahman Ahmed Mohamed, trading as Plenus Studios ("we", "us", "our").
By installing, accessing, or using Carrus, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. The service
Carrus is a vehicle maintenance tracking app. It helps you record service history, schedule upcoming maintenance, scan receipts, and ask an AI assistant ("Carson") for diagnostic guidance. Some features require a paid subscription.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Union/UK) to use Carrus. By using the app you confirm you meet this requirement and have authority to enter these Terms.
3. Your account
You can use Carrus without an account in limited form. To unlock cloud sync, multiple cars, AI features, and receipt scanning, you must create an account using a valid email address.
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your password confidential.
- All activity that happens under your account.
- Notifying us at hello@carrus.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.
4. Subscriptions
Carrus Premium is available as a monthly or annual subscription, purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Free trial: annual subscriptions include a 7-day free trial. You won't be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID / Google Play settings — not from inside the app.
- Price changes: we'll notify you at least 30 days before any price increase. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
- Refunds: all refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their store policies.
5. AI features
Carson (our AI assistant) and the receipt scanner are powered by third-party large language models (OpenAI). When you use them:
- Your message text or receipt image is sent to OpenAI to generate a response.
- AI output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading.
- Carson is not a substitute for a qualified mechanic. Always confirm critical diagnoses with a professional, and follow your vehicle's official service manual for safety-critical procedures.
- We accept no liability for decisions you make based on AI output.
We enforce per-user usage caps on AI features to prevent abuse. Caps are described in the in-app "Carson AI usage" panel and may change over time.
6. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Use Carrus for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app.
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the service.
- Submit content that is hateful, harassing, infringing, or otherwise unlawful.
- Attempt to exceed your per-account usage caps by creating multiple accounts.
- Resell, sublicense, or share your account with others.
7. Your content
You retain ownership of the vehicle data, photos, and notes you put into Carrus. By using the app, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store and process this content for the sole purpose of operating the service.
When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to OpenAI for text extraction and not stored on our servers afterward.
8. Intellectual property
The app, including its source code, design, branding, and content (other than your own data and any third-party catalog data), is owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. The "Carrus" name and logo are our trademarks.
Vehicle make and model names referenced in the app are trademarks of their respective owners. Carrus is not affiliated with or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer.
9. Disclaimers
CARRUS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT MAINTENANCE INTERVALS WILL EXACTLY MATCH YOUR VEHICLE'S OWNER'S MANUAL.
Maintenance schedules in the app are based on publicly available guidelines and conservative estimates for your region. Always consult your vehicle's official owner's manual for the authoritative service schedule. Carrus is a tracking tool, not a replacement for professional automotive advice.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Carrus.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under your local law (e.g. fraud, gross negligence, or where prohibited by applicable consumer protection laws).
11. Termination
- By you: delete your account at any time from Settings → Manage Account. Cancellation of a subscription does not delete your account.
- By us: we may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or use the app in ways that harm other users, our service, or third parties.
On termination, your data is deleted within 24 hours (subject to any legal hold).
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in the United Arab Emirates, except where your local consumer protection law gives you the right to sue in your own country.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via an in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
